{"id":296,"date":"2003-10-22T02:20:56-04:00","date_gmt":"2003-10-22T10:20:56+00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peterjanes.ca\/wordpress\/?p=296"},"modified":"2003-10-22T02:20:56-04:00","modified_gmt":"2003-10-22T10:20:56+00:00","slug":"aaugh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peterjanes.ca\/blog\/2003\/10\/22\/aaugh\/","title":{"rendered":"Aaugh!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class='e-content'><p>There&#8217;s only one thing worse than having your computer crash if you&#8217;ve succumbed to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kryogenix.org\/days\/553.html\">tyranny of tabbed browsing<\/a> as much as I have, and that&#8217;s temporarily losing sanity (or fine motor control over the mouse&#8230; six of one&#8230;) and clicking the close button on the browser.  Knowing that all those long hours spent middle-clicking links that <q>I&#8217;ll come back to later<\/q> have now gone to waste, destroyed in an instant by an itchy trigger finger, is enough to make even the most stoic among us utter a prayer to <a title=\"Saint Isidore of Seville\" href=\"http:\/\/www.catholic-forum.com\/saints\/sainti04.htm\">the patron saint of computers and the Internet<\/a>&#8230; or, just maybe, a (not-so-)silent curse at <a title=\"Douglas Engelbart\" href=\"http:\/\/inventors.about.com\/library\/weekly\/aa081898.htm\">the inventor of the mouse<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>But if what was in those tabs was really important or interesting, we would have read them already, wouldn&#8217;t we?  Perhaps this is a subconscious way of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.infoworld.com\/articles\/ca\/xml\/00\/01\/10\/000110caoverload.xml\">fighting<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.computerbits.com\/archive\/1998\/0200\/infoload.html\">information<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.softpanorama.org\/Social\/overload.shtml\">overload<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Still, sometimes it would be nice to be <a href=\"http:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=189888\">prevented from doing stupid things<\/a>.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"syndication-links\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"There&#8217;s only one thing worse than having your computer crash if you&#8217;ve succumbed to the tyranny of tabbed browsing as much as I have, and that&#8217;s temporarily losing sanity (or fine motor control over the mouse&#8230; six of one&#8230;) and clicking the close button on the browser.
