My polling place was easy to find, in a <em>very<\/em> Douglas Adams sense:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote cite=\"Douglas Adams, The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy\"><p><q>But Mr. Dent, the plans have been available in the local planning office for the last nine months.<\/q><\/p>\n<p><q>Oh yes, well, as soon as I heard I went straight round to see them, yesterday afternoon. You hadn&#8217;t exactly gone out of your way to call attention to them, had you? I mean, like actually telling anybody or anything.<\/q><\/p>\n<p><q>But the plans were on display&#8230;<\/q><\/p>\n<p><q>On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.<\/q><\/p>\n<p><q>That&#8217;s the display department.<\/q><\/p>\n<p><q>With a flashlight.<\/q><\/p>\n<p><q>Ah, well, the lights had probably gone.<\/q><\/p>\n<p><q>So had the stairs.<\/q><\/p>\n<p><q>But look, you found the notice, didn&#8217;t you?<\/q><\/p>\n<p><q>Yes,<\/q> said Arthur, <q>yes I did. It was on display on the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying <q>Beware of the Leopard.<\/q><\/q><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>The polling staff told me they&#8217;d had even more problems earlier in the day: the poll is located in a school, and traffic wasn&#8217;t able to get in because of the children playing outdoors during recess.  I&#8217;ve a mind to write the (not-so-)new council to thank them for making it so easy to make my voice heard.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"syndication-links\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"I voted in the municipal election tonight.
