Almost a year and a half ago I <a href=\"http:\/\/peterjanes.ca\/blog\/archives\/2002\/11\/23\/baby-steps\">updated my server config<\/a> to correctly send XHTML pages as <code>application\/xhtml+xml<\/code> to UAs that support it and fall back to <code>text\/html<\/code> for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/ie\/\">those that don&#8217;t<\/a>.  It&#8217;s time for step 3: no more fallbacks.  As of August 9, <a href=\"http:\/\/peterjanes.ca\/blog\/archives\/2002\/08\/09\/lets-try-this-again\">my two-year anniversary<\/a> of starting to blog in earnest, <a href=\"\/blog\/\">Petroglyphs<\/a> will be a <code>text\/html<\/code>-free zone.<\/p>\n\n<p>I&#8217;m doing this partly <a href=\"http:\/\/peterjanes.ca\/blog\/archives\/2004\/06\/29\/unsafe-at-any-speed\">in protest<\/a>, but mostly because it&#8217;s the Right Thing to do (since I&#8217;m creating XHTML anyway).  It will, probably, reduce the already-small number of people who come by, although regulars can <a href=\"http:\/\/sastools.com\/b2\/post\/79394232\">make changes<\/a> if they don&#8217;t want to switch browsers.
