{"id":38,"date":"2002-09-05T23:38:55-04:00","date_gmt":"2002-09-06T07:38:55+00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peterjanes.ca\/wordpress\/?p=38"},"modified":"2002-09-05T23:38:55-04:00","modified_gmt":"2002-09-06T07:38:55+00:00","slug":"linkrolling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peterjanes.ca\/blog\/2002\/09\/05\/linkrolling\/","title":{"rendered":"Linkrolling"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class='e-content'><p>I&#8217;ve been trying to come up with a term for the current fad of <a href=\"http:\/\/slashdot.org\/\">linking<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/\">each<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/\">word<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gc.ca\/\">in<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lennijabour.com\/\">a<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.suntimes.com\/ebert\/\">phrase<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/harlanellison.com\/\">to<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alistapart.com\/\">something<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liberate.com\/\">different<\/a>.  The best I&#8217;ve been able to come up with is <q>linkrolling<\/q>.  It&#8217;s similar to <q>blogrolling<\/q>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blogroots.com\/chapters.blog\/id\/8\">defined<\/a> as <q>a list of links&#8230; [that] are usually connected in some way<\/q> and located <q>usually on the same page as the weblog, in a column on the side <\/q>.  Linkrolling, then, is blogrolling in the small: providing a list of links in a compact inline form.<\/p>\n\n<p>[Update, later: okay, so I&#8217;m just coining a new meaning for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=linkrolling\">term<\/a>.  Note that most of the sites listed currently use <q>linkrolling<\/q> interchangeably, and often redundantly, with <q>blogrolling<\/q>.
