This attribute is intended to give information about the source from which the quotation was borrowed.<\/dd><\/dl><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve used it for <a title=\"Post from January 2003\" href=\"http:\/\/peterjanes.ca\/blog\/archives\/2003\/01\/26\/wide-world-of-words\">quite a while<\/a> here and recently added <a href=\"\/include\/blockquotes\">an XHTML-compatible version<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/v2.1976design.com\/blog\/archive\/2003\/11\/10\/updates\/\">Dunstan Orchard&#8217;s citation extractor<\/a> that makes the information stored there actually useful.  Unfortunately, few of the blog crawlers (notably <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/\">Technorati<\/a>, if only for the connotation of its name) recognize that the <samp>cite<\/samp> attributes are links just as much as <samp>href<\/samp> attributes are.
