The first results of the experiment<\/a> are in, and they’d seem to indicate that Google<\/a> places no importance at all<\/em> on heading elements relative to any other text in a page.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In order, the current results<\/a> (with duplicate hits included) are:<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    \r\n
  1. embedded h2<\/code><\/li>\r\n
  2. full content of a normal paragraph<\/li>\r\n
  3. embedded h1<\/code><\/li>\r\n
  4. normal text embedded in a paragraph<\/li>\r\n
  5. split between h1<\/code> and h2<\/code><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n

    Note, however, that the missed h1<\/code> test<\/a>–probably the most relevant of any of them–is not yet included. I don’t hold high hopes that it will fare any better, though.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    I’ll leave this to age for a few more days and see if things change at all, then try a new iteration. Suggestions are welcome, as always.<\/p><\/div>
