I just returned from C&#8217;est What in Toronto, the only stop on Lenni Jabour and The Third Floor&#8217;s <q>Come Back Tour<\/q>.  (I took <a href=\"http:\/\/peterjanes.homeip.net\/pix\/2002\/0915\/\">lots of photos<\/a>, which I haven&#8217;t edited yet&#8230; I&#8217;m obviously not particularly adept at using my digital camera.)<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Some quick notes which I&#8217;ll fill in later:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>There are few things better than walking into a club and hearing <a href=\"http:\/\/home.istar.ca\/~bgbutler\/Programs\/Events\/Eckhardt.html\">Vilma Vitols<\/a> singing Weill\/Brecht during her sound check.  (Missed the name of her pianist.)<\/li>\r\n<li>Chanced to meet three of the York students&#8212;Andrew, Sarah, and Alison, plus their friend Darcy&#8212;now all grads, that I&#8217;d met at Rancho Relaxo in February.  Completely failed (again) to hit it off with Alison.<\/li>\r\n<li>Finally saw <a href=\"http:\/\/members.rogers.com\/periwinkle\/performers-bio.htm#Paula\">Paula Skimin<\/a>, <q>tapdanceuse extraordinaire<\/q>, and drummer David Peters.  She reminds me of a healthy-looking Aimee Mann.  <span style=\"text-decoration:line-through;\">Missed the name of her drummer;<\/span> she also danced to Drew&#8217;s solo double bass.<\/li>\r\n<li>As of Sunday, September 15, the phrase <cite class=\"term\">damn cute<\/cite> is officially declared to begin with the letter <cite>C<\/cite>.<\/li>\r\n<li>There&#8217;s a fourth floor.  Happy birthday, Mr. Bannercramp!<\/li>\r\n<li>Natasha has the worst luck.  (Play the flipping music, Lenni!)  Alex has the best shoes, and a very nice voice.<\/li>\r\n<li>If <cite class=\"title\">Gabe<\/cite> wasn&#8217;t written about me (and I&#8217;m certain it wasn&#8217;t) then I wish it had been.  (cf. C. Simon, <cite class=\"title\">You&#8217;re So Vain<\/cite>)  I&#8217;ve got a new favourite song.<\/li>\r\n<li>Too many encores to keep track of.  The club was packed to the gills with fans&#8212;sitting on the floor in front of the stage, in several cases&#8212;which made it difficult for Rosalita to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=hula+hoop\" title=\"You know, for kids!\">hula hoop<\/a> (twice!).<\/li>\r\n<li>Fanboy moments: a hug before the show, and a smooch (!) after.<\/li>\r\n<li>The show ended at about 12:30; by 1:57 I had hits on <a href=\"\/LenniFan\/\">my site<\/a> (referred from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lennijabour.com\/\">Lenni&#8217;s<\/a>).<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<p>And the answer to the question posed above, based on keen observation, is <em>yes<\/em>.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"syndication-links\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s 4 a.m. as I start to type this, but I&#8217;m hardly tired.
