In the past week I’ve been yelled at, told that my pet projects aren’t worthwhile, sick for three days, ignored repeatedly, and generally made to feel worthless, and I’ve realized that I sit on my ass eight to twelve hours a day making products that will–with any luck–encourage millions of others to sit on their asses more than they already do.
Tonight I saw Bowling for Columbine and was reminded that there are other people with worse problems.
This doesn’t make me feel better–quite the contrary–but it does add perspective.
I hear you! Some weeks are just plain shitty. Look at Winona. It just keeps getting shittier for her. http://www.canoe.ca/JamMovies/nov8_ryder-ap.html
Hey Peter,
I’m not sure if you like Jann Arden, but she has a journal that’s pretty good. I’m just now checking it out. http://www.jannarden.com/journal.php
But Donna, she has her millions to keep her warm. Chin up, we still love you!
Haven’t listened to Jann for some time, although I did read on Emm Gryner’s site that they may be performing something together in the near future.
All I can say re Ms. Ryder is that I hope these little incidents don’t preclude her from appearing in Alien 5: Alien vs. Predator vs. Ripley vs. Annalee vs. Maggie Simpson vs. The Harlem Globetrotters. That’d be a darn shame.
I feel your pain, Peter. Say… did I tell you about the time that we had to do an emergency patch to a project I was testing not once, not twice but three times after it shipped?
Trust me; no matter how bleak things look, you’ll always be more competent than me!
Don’t think I’ve heard about that one. 🙂 Your war stories are better than mine… but have I ever mentioned how I caused a multinational chemical company’s network to shut down for the better part of an afternoon?
Yeah but that was intentional wasn’t it?
