Test the Nation

I’d encourage all those who found earlier trivia and math quizzes in our little microcosm interesting to check out CBC’s Test the Nation IQ test. The questions expect very little domain-specific knowledge, with the exception of the language section; otherwise they’re pretty straight-up tests of logic, memory, perception, and math skills.

I watched the Halifax broadcast tonight, so I know my results already and how they compare to the in-studio competitors: quite favourably, if I do say so myself. 🙂

  1. Oops – I used a ‘less than’ character in my previous comment and it truncated my response. Here’s the rest:
    Visual Memory 4/6
    Math: 12/12
    Perception: 11/12

  2. I missed three on memory, one on logic, and one on visual memory, for 135… one answer and two points shy of the high scorer from the show. Definitely need to go back to the logic one to figure out what I missed.

  3. Clearly I’m the weak link in the Blogosphere, as I scored a lowly 117 (but had predicted 120 at the start, when it asked what I thought my IQ was). My scores were:

    Language: 12/12
    Memory: 2/6
    Logic: 10/12
    Visual Memory: 4/6
    Math: 12/12
    Perception: 4/12

I’ve always said that I have a lousy memory for details, and a combined 6/12 would confirm that. The perception questions were nothing I could do in that amount of time, as it involves spatial things like being able to rotate a shape in my head, which I’m terrible at (part of the reason why I find maps extremely hard to read). Nice that I kicked ass in Language and Math, the two categories I actually care about!!

  4. Finally got around to taking it, scored 126

    Language 10/12
    Memory 5/6
    Logic 11/12
    Visual Memory 5/6
    Math 8/12
    Perception 11/12
